This special release from the Irish distillery is limited to 9,000 bottles.
It is mellow and creamy, a sophisticated whisper, giving off sweet lemon, red apple, loquat, unripe apricot, and golden plum. A touch of honey and flower pollen. Sweetness is just minor vanilla powder. The palate is slightly more intense but still refined; heather honey, some sweet spices (cardamom, anise, gingerbread), a touch of fresh flowers, and a background of citric fruit continuing the refreshing side. Intensity is not the primary target; in this masterly crafted single malt, there are several aromas and tastes which are well-balanced together to create a refined, silky, continuously moving complexity. Alcohol is almost non-existent.
94Among the whiskies tested in blind tastings and reviews throughout the year, those scoring the best get reselected. These products were then tried once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
