Bunnahabhain gets renovated

The news about the renovation of the Bunnahabhain distillery on Islay is a couple of days old: 11 million pound are ready for the facelift of the distillery to the north of the famous Scotch whisky island. Renovations will take up to three years and includes the whole structure.

First of, for the visitors, that have increased in numbers year after year, they will build a lounge where now stands the Warehouse 9 that faces the bay. The visitors center, which nowadays is very small (a room) will be moved and increased. Lets not forget about the restructuring of the whole production facility and the upgrade of the small harbor in front of the distillery, to attract tourist by boat.

Bunnahabhain has also unveiled three limited bottlings for the second half of 2017:

• Bunnahabhain 2003 Pedro Ximénez Finish: 15 year old malt, of which 11 are in sherry barrels, of second filling, and 4 are in Pedro Ximenez, of first filling. Price is 85 pounds.
• Bunnahabhain 1980 Canasta Finish:  aged for 36 years in Oloroso Sherry casks and the last three months in Canasta Sherry Casks. Price is 1800 pounds.
• Bunnahabhain 2004 Moine Brandy Finish: 10 years in Sherry casks and 3 in Brandy barrels. Price is 80 pounds.
