Compass Box The Peat Monster Cask Strength: Origin Story

The Compass Box The Peat Monster Cask Strength: Origin Story celebrates 20 years of The Peat Monster, a collaboration between Park Avenue Liquors of New York and Compass Box.

This year’s edition pays homage to the American master coopers, dedicating 3-4 months to finishing half of the product in special American white oak barrels (toasted to grade #2) made by the Independent Stave Company. Additionally, the barrels had been shipped to Scotland and filled with grain brandy for a year.

The blended malt whiskeys are as follows: “Williamson Islay Malt,” aged in second-fill American oak casks (35%); Caol Ila malt whiskey, aged in second-fill American oak casks (34.2%), American oak bourbon casks (17.9%) and puncheons (11.8%); Highland Malt Blend by Compass Box aged in French oak barrels with a “heavy” toast (1.1%). The distillate is bottled at full strength at 56.7% alcohol.

This edition is limited to only 9,126 bottles worldwide. Distribution began this month, and each bottle will be offered to the public at a suggested price of $125.
