The Japanese Hatozaki Whisky just imported into the US the first edition of its “Omakase Collection”. In Japan, the word “Omakase” means a sort of “I trust you, chef” and in a Japanese restaurant, going for the “Omakase” means that the chef is going to decide what to give you.
Translated into the whiskey scenario, this word could be translated into the master blender deciding what whiskey serving to consumers. For this first Omakase Pure Malt Edition, the distiller chose to blend single malts of at least 5-6 years of age in small batches of at least 10 casks. This blend was then aged 8 years in American oak and traditional Mizunara casks.
It is bottled at 45.6% (92 proof).
