Kavalan Solist Port Single Cask Strength is expression matured in ex-port casks of the awards-winning Solist series.
Red bold suggestions are taking over straight from the beginning, together with a boasting vanilla sweetness: dark cherries, overripe plums, wet sultanas in terms of fruit, but winey components are also pretty evident. A very intense nose, played between the sweet and the bitter side, the latter almost like licorice.
Hey, palate is surprising here! It reminds a cherry spirit, it is still bold and intense, but adds a remarkable ripe orange side. Orange zest covered in dark chocolate. Alcohol is pretty intense, but overall manageable. The perception is less sweet than the nose. Oaky notes, very well under control.
Long lasting, with overripe cherries in alcohol, orange zest and some chocolate fudge.
Kavalan Solist Port Single Cask Strength is a very intense product, pushed by a very high ABV. Despite this, the alcohol reminds manageable. Flavors are bold, strong, mainly played on cherries, vanilla, oak and, especially on the palate, on orange zest covered in dark chocolate. A truly nice way of managing the winey character of ex-port casks.
