TASTING NOTES - TALISKER WILDER SEAS

Nose

A touch of sea salt, a breath of wind on a sailing boat. Nose is however not the most expressive one, with some minor hints of yellow fruit and aromatic Mediterranean herbs, coastal ones. Some malty, bready notes.

Palate

The typical Talisker freshly crashed black pepper is very present and upfront, with tons of marine character, seaweeds, oysters, iodine, with some lemon peel freshness. Only at the very end a touch of sweetness, similar to Sauternes wines, which is very nice to clean the mouth from the previous sensations. A very rewarding palate, a nice experience.

Finish

Medium, nicely balanced and enjoyable.

Talisker Wilder Seas is a very split whisky; the nose is not very intense or memorable in any way, such as having the Talisker taste profile somehow "smoothed down" by the cognac finish. The total opposite can be said of the palate, where the typical coastal and black pepper notes are very evident and pleasant, with a final, balanced and rich sweetness. Overall an interesting product.
