The GlenAllachie 2012 Vintage Cuvée Wine Cask Finish

Taking inspiration from the world of wine, The GlenAllachie present own 2012 Vintage Cuvée Wine Cask Finish.
The French term ‘Cuvée’ is used in the wine sector to reference a blend that typically comprises more than one variety of grape. Likewise, this 9-year-old Cuvée is a marriage of spirit from several fine wine casks sourced from the world-renowned regions of France and Italy.

After initial maturation in American ex-Bourbon oak, the honeyed spirit enjoyed over 20 months of additional aging in barriques which previously held four types of premium red wine: Languedoc, Recioto Della Valpolicella and two undisclosed Premier Cru Classés. After Master Blender Billy Walker deemed the spirit within each to have reached its optimum, he skilfully blended them together to deliver an exquisite malt, abundant with ripe cherries and rich espresso, with hints of liquorice on the finish. Commenting on this innovative release, Billy said: “As a blender at heart, identifying wine styles that would sit well together and capture distinctive qualities presented an enjoyable challenge. They say, ‘never mix grape and grain’, but I say this marriage is a match made in heaven.”

Bottled at 48% ABV, the limited-edition golden liquid is offered without added colouring or chill-filtration for maximum enjoyment. It is already in distribution and is offered at a suggested price of £60.
