Springbank is a small Scottish distillery in Campbeltown, a small peninsula once home to dozens of distilleries. Today, there are only few representatives of the glorious era left. Springbank has a very long history and is unique in the Scottish landscape. Everything that happens in the distillery is done by hand, technology is absent and there is no project to start technical improvements.

The owner of the distillery has opted for this very little profit-oriented philosophy to maintain strong ties with the Campbeltown community, a kind of mutual aid. In addition, Springbank malts are admired in every corner of the world. This release is the 17th versions of the 12 year old cask strength, each with a different and certainly interesting recipe.
despite the high gradation, it remains manageable. Abundant spices, white pepper, cinnamon, paprika and saffron. Then it moves on to barnyard, earth and fruit, red fruit, apple, pear and ripe banana. The sherry component followes with berries and black cherry jam.
sweet impact, well mitigated by the constantly increasing intensity. Fruity and round. Notes of red apple, pear, dried apricot and orange jam. The spices appear later, sugary hints of red fruit, white pepper and cinnamon. High in complexity.
long finish. Medium – full in intensity. White pepper, dried apricot, orange jam and bitter red fruits.
Springbank rarely does something wrong with this bottling. The Springbank 12 Cask Strength Batch 17 confirms itself to be an excellent whisky. Intensity, complexity and balance are great. As usual, the quality of a distillery that, despite the lack of technology, does not miss a beat.
