Boann Distillery’s The Whistler Imperial Stout And Calvados Cask Finished Irish Whiskeys

Boann Distillery has announced their release of The Whistler Imperial Stout and Calvados Cask Finished Irish whiskeys. The distillery is family owned by the Cooney’s, and located in the Boyne Valley in Ireland. Boann Distillery, which is paired with their sister brewery, Boyne, used the brewery to help in the production of the Whistler Imperial Stout bottling. The Calvados bottling, had help from Chateau du Breuill. These will be the second batches of both bottlings.

  • THE WHISTLER IMPERIAL STOUT CASK FINISH BATCH 002
    This bottling is a blend composed of 50% wheat whiskey, 35% malt whiskey and 15% grain. The blend first matured in ex-bourbon barrels before being married, and then it’s finished for 6 months in ex-single malt sherry casks that were previously used to mature O’Hara’s Imperial Stout. The whiskey is bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV). Bottled with no chill filtration or any added coloring.

 

  • THE WHISTLER CALVADOS CASK FINISH BATCH 002
    This bottling is a contiunation of the collaboration between Boann Distillery and Chateau du Breuil that produce Calvados. The whiskey used for this release is triple-distilled, with a high malt content of 35% malt whiskey, and 65% grain whiskey. Both whiskey components are matured separately in ex-bourbon casks for a minimum of 4 years.  Then they are married, and re-casked for 15 months in the Calvados casks. Bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV). Bottled with no chill filtration or any added coloring.

The Imperial Stout and Calvados Cask bottlings both have an MSRP of $39.99 per bottle. These expressions are limited to 3,000 total bottles per batch. Availability is limited to only the states of Indiana, Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Nevada, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Texas.
