The new batch of the Jefferson’s Ocean Aged At Sea is the number 26, and it is different from what the brand is used to release. The 26th batch is in fact a rye whiskey, and it is the first rye ever to be matured at the sea.
This rye whiskey was double-barreled: 75% in char #3 barrels and 25% in toasted barrels. After this, it was then placed on ships, as it used to be for all the Jefferson’s Ocean Aged At Sea, and traveled around the world for six months, going through a finish “given by the sea.” The rye is then bottled without chill-filtration at 96 proof (48% ABV).
